How To Recover After Laser Hair Removal On Your Legs

If you are about to get laser hair removal for your legs, you are likely looking forward to the results. While you may be aware of some of the things you need to do, you may be wondering what you can expect after the procedure. What you do after the procedure is very important for its long term success. Take a look at what you need to do after a laser hair removal procedure.

 Redness and Swelling

It is normal to experience redness and swelling on the legs after laser removal. You may notice this for several days after the procedure. Some people might feel like they have a razor burn or a sunburn. This feeling will probably last for a few hours. To remedy this, you can try using hydrocortisone cream or aloe vera to ease the irritation on your legs. You will need to repeat the laser treatment for your leg every few weeks.

The Shedding Will Be Gradual

The hair on your legs will slowly begin to shed. This will happen over a few weeks. If you notice patchy hair growth on your legs, know that this is normal and that it will usually go away as your treatment series progresses.

Stay Out of the Sun

Post-treatment, you want to ensure that you stay out of the sun for a few weeks. If you get too much sun exposure, it can increase the risk of getting scars on your legs. You may also see pigmentation changes and changes in the texture of your skin. You should not use hot tubs or saunas for a few days and do not exercise for 24 hours. Make sure you use a broad-spectrum sunblock with a high SPF level.

Take Medication with Caution

Pain relievers such as aspirin should be avoided when you are getting laser treatments. This is because they can cause blood thinning and make it more likely that scarring will take place. It will also make your skin more sensitive to the laser light if you need more treatments. If you must take a pain reliever, it is better to take one with acetaminophen since this will not thin the blood.

Taking care of your legs after laser hair removal treatment is not that difficult. All you have to do is ensure that you do what you can to protect your skin post-treatment. Once you do this you will see excellent results. Contact a laser hair removal treatment service for more information.
