Exchange Your Long, Flat Style For One That Is Shorter And Versatile

Long hair that is one length can be difficult to manage. The heaviness of your hair may result in strands laying flat across your head and face and concealing some of your best features. Open up to the idea of receiving a medium-length layered cut. A shorter cut will provide you with more fullness, versatility, and easy manageability.

Avoid Choosing An Extreme Cut

Shorter dos remain a constant when it comes to being fashionable, but a shorter cut does not mean that you have to have most of your length cut off to update your look. It is best to settle for a minor to moderate cut that involves removing dead ends.

You can always ask your stylist to cut more hair if you think your hair is still too long after the initial trimming session, but won't be afforded this luxury if you decide to receive a drastic cut right off the bat. Tell your stylist about some of the issues you are currently experiencing, including flatness, lack of shine, and tangles. Your stylist will take your worries into account when recommending a cut.

Bring Along Accessories

If you plan on accessorizing your new cut with some barrettes, clips, or hair ties, bring along your favorite items so that the stylist can implement them in your makeover. Don't fail to mention that you would like to wear your hair down at times too so that you can learn the easiest way to achieve a blown back look or a face-framing shag.

The main thing to remember is that accessories and styling products can add unwanted weight to portions of your hair, which will compromise your new do's appearance. Lightweight plastic or fabric additions won't add strain to your strands and products that are infused with vitamins and natural additives could actually improve the look and health of your hair.

Receive Routine Trims

Even with consistent care, hair strands can break off and split ends can become apparent. Over processing or daily usage of styling products can cause your hair to become frizzy. This is why it is important to maintain your style by receiving routine trims.

During a hair cutting session, feel free to have additional layers added to your hair or learn about ways to speed up the growth process if you have decided to minimize the amount of layers that your style possesses or would like to eliminate layers altogether.
